Calm and Bright

I live on quite a busy street: cars and trucks rumble by at all hours. They’re my alarm clocks, really. When the horns and engines reach a certain magnitude, it means it’s time to get up and start the day. However, this morning it was curiously calm and quiet. As the minutes ticked by, I figured it was time to get up, even if the outside world was failing to do so. Once up, I peered outside and discovered that the world had been covered by a blanket of soft, bright snow, which was dulling the sounds of the tires on pavement. It was our first snow here in DC, and drew much enthusiasm and excitement (if not by all, then certainly by me!). And of course, I felt it called for a long walk across the National Mall to photograph our capital city in all it’s gleaming white glory.

Beautiful pictures, Alexandra!! Thanks for sharing! I talked with your Father yesterday and he said he had a wonderful time visiting with you and Nicholas at Christmas time. He had tears in his voice when he mentioned that it had been a long time since he had Christmas time with both of his children! He was happy and it is always a pleasure talking with Jorge! Take care of yourself and keep warm! Lots of love to you.
